Book of the month - October

I read so many fantastic books last month that I've had to have a couple of days to think about which I was going to choose as the best. It was such a tough decision but I finally decided to go with

Angel by L.A. Weatherly

Angel was something completely different to everything else I have read this year and brought a whole new take on Angels to the table. Willow and Alex have a fantastic story and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

L.A Weatherly has recently been touring and doing signings all over the country. I'm going to a signing in Leeds in December with Rhiana_Reads and I can't tell you how excited I am.

You can find my review here!

I also thought I'd show you all the trailer for Angel so if you haven't read it yet, you can get an idea of what the story is about. Enjoy!!

Book of the month - September

Thankfully, this month was such an easy choice. I usually have a really hard time picking just one book as my favourite and I have cheated in the past by having two. This month's Book of the month goes to Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. I had been waiting for this for a long time so I started reading it as soon as it arrived. I would have had it a lot sooner but it got lost in the mail and Walker was nice enough to send me it again.

I love the trailer for this book and I couldn't believe that I hadn't seen it until very recently. Every should read this book because of how fantastic it is! You can find my review here!

Book of the Month - August

I've found it extremely hard to pick one book as my favourite this month. As you all know, I loved Lacey Weatherford's series Of Witches and Warlocks so much that I dedicated a whole week to it. If you missed any of that, you can find all of the posts below:

Review: The Trouble With Spells
Review: The Demon Kiss
Coming Soon! Matt Lanter Appreciation

So...back to choosing one book! I think the August Book Of The Month has to go to The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. A couple of fellow bloggers had told me how amazing this book was and they were spot on. I loved everything about it and would recommend it to everyone. You can check out my review here.

Not only is this a fantastic book but it is completely stunning. I loved the way that it was presented and all of the personal touches that related so well with the story. One of the most beautiful books I have ever seen.

Book of the Month - July

I've decided to dedicate a post to the best book that I read the previous month. I read a lot of books in July and there was many great new releases but there was one that stood out completely against everything else. I was actually very surprised when I read this book and loved it so much as it isn't something that I would have ever picked myself so I also want to say thanks for the recommendations. Yes, Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles is my book of the month and how could it not be?

You can find my review here.

The sequel to Perfect Chemistry, Rules of Attraction will be released January 2011 here in the UK which isn't soon enough in my opinion so I thought you all might like to see the trailer for it. I really wish one of these had been done for Perfect Chemistry to show Alex Fuentes to the world but we will have to make do with little brother Carlos instead!

Book of the month - June

I've decided to dedicate a post to the best book that I read the previous month. For June, Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready was easily the stand out book for me. Shade is a book that I think I will find hard to ever forget. You can find my review here.

I was extremely lucky and privileged enough to have a quick Q&A session with Jeri, who was so nice to take some time out of her busy schedule for me.

What made you make the move from adult novels to YA?
I'm actually still writing adult novels as well. In fact, my next book in the WVMP RADIO vampire series, BRING ON THE NIGHT, comes out on July 27, and the fourth book will be released next August. I really hope I can continue to do exactly what I'm doing now--writing one adult and one YA book per year--because I enjoy both equally.

For me it's not so much a decision to write one or the other in general as it is figuring out the best way to tell a certain story. I had the original idea for SHADE several years ago as an adult series, but it went nowhere until the character of Aura popped into my head in the starring role.

Right now I have a new series idea percolating in the back of my head that hasn't decided yet whether it wants to be adult or YA. It depends on which character steps forward and yells loudest.

If you were forced to choose between Logan and Zachary, which would it be?
Ooh, great question! If I were Aura, it would be tough to choose. She has a long history with Logan, but personality-wise Zachary is probably a better match for her. Then again, opposites attract, right?

If I were myself (and you know, seventeen and single), it'd be slightly less tough. Zachary has the accent, but Logan has the guitar, so their good points balance each other out. But Zachary has that whole "being alive" thing going for him, which is hard for Logan to compete with. So Zachary would probably be my choice. And again, the accent.

But as the author, my favorite guy is always the one who's in the scene I'm writing at the moment. Which makes me just as confused and torn as Aura.

We already know that Shift will be the second book in this series but are there going to be any more?
I hope so! Ideally there would be four books, two each for Aura's junior and senior years of high school. By the end of SHIFT, Aura knows the answers to most of the important mysteries (including which guy is right for her). But then, what does she do with those answers? How does she take control of her destiny? Who wants to stop her or use her? There's a lot more story to tell, some of it across the Atlantic. ;-)

Hopefully I will know by the end of this year how many books will be in the series. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks for featuring SHADE as your book of the month, Lyndsey, and thanks for having me on your blog!
