In My Mailbox (#9)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren to show what everyone has been recieving or buying each week. All of my links either go to the publishers' website or goodreads if I have bought them.

This is week 2 of my book buying ban and so far it's gone really well. I haven't even bought one tiny little book this week! I did, however, still recieve a couple.

Candor - Pam Bachorz
Publisher: Egmont
Release Date: 2nd August 2010

In a town where his father brainwashes everyone, he's found a way to secretly fight the subliminal Messages. He's got them all fooled: Oscar's the top student and the best-behaved teen in town. Nobody knows he's made his own Messages to deprogram his brain. Oscar has even found a way to get rich. For a hefty price, he helps new kids escape Candor, Florida before they're transformed into cookie-cutter teens. But then Nia Silva moves to Candor, and Oscar's carefully-controlled world crumbles.

I have to say that I really don't like this cover. I am completely terrified of wasps so having one stare me in the face on the cover of a book doesn't please me at all. The US cover has a pretty hot boy on it and would have preferred that one as the UK cover but it isn't creeping me out as much as I thought it would.

Claire de Lune - Christine Johnson
Publisher: Simon Pulse (Simon and Schuster UK)
Release Date 5th August 2010

Hanover Falls hasn't had a werewolf problem in over one hundred years. But when people suddenly start dying in Claire Benoit's town, panic spreads fast. At Claire's sixteenth birthday party, the gruesome killings are all anyone can talk about. Claire, however, is more interested in the fact that the gorgeous Matthew Engle keeps chatting and flirting with her as if she's the only girl there. But that night, she discovers something that takes away all sense of normalcy: she's a werewolf.

As Claire is initiated into the pack of female werewolves, she must deal not only with her changing identity, but also with a rogue werewolf who is putting everyone she knows in danger. Claire's new life threatens her blossoming romance with Matthew, whose father is leading the werewolf hunt. Now burdened with a dark secret and pushing the boundaries of forbidden love, Claire is struggling to feel comfortable in either skin. With her lupine loyalty at odds with her human heart, she will make a choice that will change her forever....

So although I only got 2 books this week, I have been really excited about both of them. What did you get this week?

I agree with you on the cover of Candor. The premise is pretty intriguing though.

Love-love-loved Candor! Super-creepy brainwashing book. But I do hate the UK cover. Hot boys far outweigh icky wasps.

Ooh! I saw Candor in the bookshop this week and didn't pick it up. Have been kicking myself since because I can't stop thinking about it and really want to read it!

Eew at the Candor cover (but I like the blurb, and this one's on my TBR too). Actually both are on my TBR, lol. Got Claire de Lune too. Well done on your book ban, I should learn from you my dear. Enjoy this week! :)

The outline for candor sounds interesting but you're right I would not pickup the book just based on the cover. I've got to get Claire de Lune.
